Gallants found what they wanted: ‘A great place for all of us’

When Paul and Cindy Gallant moved their family from Massachusetts to the San Diego area five years ago, they wanted a new hometown that would be “great for all of us.” And in the Reunion neighborhood of 4S Ranch, that’s what they found.

Not only was the couple pleased with the reputation of the Poway Unified School District, but the fit for each of them personally was perfect. Cindy has ample trails and wide sidewalks to run – and plenty of resources for her other favorite pastime of reading. Since Paul enjoys coaching youth sports teams, 4S Ranch is the perfect setting; plus, he has multiple options on where to play golf.

The Gallants’ three children also thrive in the local community’s environment:

  • Allie, 16, a sophomore at Del Norte High School, is a varsity cheerleader.
  • Marc, 14, a freshman at Del Norte, plays both football and baseball.
  • Toby, 8, a third grader at Monterey Ridge Elementary School is involved in both tennis and gymnastics.

Add to the mix that they love family snow skiing trips to nearby Mammoth, all are definitely feeling “great” about the move.

Cindy, a graduate of University of Massachusetts/Amherst and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist who works part-time at Kaiser Permanente, originally got to know her husband because she was best friends with Paul’s sister Janet, who is also a nurse. “When I was doing a traveling nurse assignment at Stanford Hospital, Paul took a job in a lab in Crete, Greece,” Cindy said. “We began to correspond via mail and began dating when we both returned to Massachusetts.”

Paul, a molecular biologist, graduated from Colby College in 1987 and currently is Senior Director of Screening and Commercial Operations for Ambit Biosciences.

According to the Gallants, about the only thing their 4S Ranch community fails to offer them is easy access to their favorite professional teams – the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. But, as Cindy will quickly point out: “We really support our new local teams!”
