Chelsea’s Light Plans Human Sunflower Event
Posted on March 11, 2011
Artist John Quigley hopes to create an impressive image to support the Chelsea’s Light Foundation by organizing participants in the shape of the flower, which will then be photographed from a helicopter.
The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Rancho Bernardo Community Park (in 92127) – and hundreds of people wearing yellow shirts are needed to form a human sunflower, Chelsea King’s favorite flower. King, 17, was murdered Feb. 25, 2010, while running trails in the park.
The park is at 18448 W. Bernardo Drive. Parking is limited. Overflow parking will be available two miles away at the Westfield Mall in Escondido near BJ’s restaurant, where shuttle service to and from the park will be available from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
