What are you, as a family, most looking forward to this summer?
We are looking forward to breaking away from the normal daily schedule and routine.  We are also looking forward to being able to do things during the week that we normally only get the chance to do on the weekends, like spending long, lazy days at the park!

As summer approaches, how are you currently preparing to be sure your children will be engaged/not bored?
We are researching day camps and vacation destinations.  In addition, we are already scheduling play-dates with friends.

What is the biggest obstacle you tend to face when summer arrives?
It is sometimes challenging to find fun yet affordable things to do with the kids.

Stacie, what is the most rewarding/challenging thing about being a stay at home mother during the summer months?
The most rewarding thing is being able to just hang out with the boys without any set schedules or obligations.  The most challenging thing is keeping the boys busy so they don’t spend their days wrestling and arguing!

Tony, as a working father, how do you stay in the loop with all the activities that occur in the summer?
Before I start work in the mornings, I chat with the boys about what their day ahead holds for them.  Stacie always gives me updates about daily activities.

Do you rearrange your schedule to take part?
I do my best to rearrange my schedule so I am able to join my family for some summer fun!

Is there a particular summer program/camp you recommend to others in the community?
This is our first summer here, so we are hoping to get recommendations from experienced 92127′ers!

What summer programs are you planning on having your children participate in?
Swimming lessons are definitely in the summer plans.  We are also looking into several different day camps, which will probably revolve around some type of sport, as the boys are very much into sports.

How do you continue promoting education in the summer months?
The boys enjoying reading books from the library and bookstore.  They practice their writing by sending letters to relatives during the summer months.   They are constantly sharpening their math skills because as Avery s favorite teacher says,  Math is EVERYWHERE !

Do you intend to participate in the Library Summer Reading program?
Yes, the boys look forward to library visits and really love reading!

Do you rely exclusively on a particular person or group of people to be sure your children are at the right place at the right time?
Sure do Stacie takes that responsibility.

Is a Summer Vacation outside of 92127 in your plans this summer?
We are hoping to spend some time in San Luis Obispo.  A second short vacation is in the works, but the destination is still undecided.

How do you attempt to stay on a routine schedule when the children are out of school?
We think the best part of the children being out of school is actually not having to stick to a routine schedule.  Spontaneity rules during the summer months!

What is the best thing about summer in 92127?
This will be our first summer in 92127, so we are looking forward to discovering what the best thing is!
